Why you'll love it
Gado gado is a traditional Indonesian dish made from a mix of fresh vegetables, egg and peanut sauce. It's packed with healthy ingredients like crunchy vegetables, protein and healthy fats, offering a perfect balance of different flavours and textures that turns every bite into a real treat. Gado gado isn't just delicious — it's also easy to prepare. With just a few simple steps, you can put together a colourful, nourishing meal. We use a 100% pure peanut butter for the sauce.
Tips and variations
- Adjust the sambal or chilli to your own spice tolerance.
- No coconut milk on hand? A splash of plant-based milk with a little extra peanut butter works too.
- Add fried tofu or tempeh for extra protein.

Method
- Cook the green beans for 12-15 minutes.
- Rinse the rice under the tap and cook for 2 minutes.
- Make the peanut sauce: warm the peanut butter, then add the remaining ingredients. If it's too thick, add a little water; if too runny, add a little more peanut butter.
- Boil the eggs over low heat for 4-5 minutes, then dice the cucumber.
- Arrange all the ingredients nicely on a plate, then generously pour over the peanut sauce and enjoy.
