The most common mistake is adding too much liquid. An açaí bowl should be able to hold granola on top without it sinking.

Frozen, always

Use frozen açaí pulp and frozen banana. If the fruit is at room temperature you will get a smoothie, not a bowl.

Very little liquid

Start with 40 ml of plant milk and only add more if the blender stalls. Less is more.

Toppings last

Add them right before serving so they stay crunchy.

Method

  1. Take the açaí pulp out of the freezer and leave it at room temperature for 2 minutes.
  2. Blend the açaí with the frozen banana and almond drink until thick and creamy.
  3. If the blender stalls, add plant milk 10 ml at a time. No more.
  4. Pour into a chilled bowl and smooth the surface.
  5. Top with the granola, sliced strawberries and chia seeds.
  6. Finish with a drizzle of peanut butter and desiccated coconut. Serve straight away.
